A very pleasant and charming small hotel in a residential/orchard area with a beautiful garden setting. The staff was friendly and accomodating. The breakfast buffet was good and plentiful in a glassed- in dining room overlooking the garden. It is a 5-10 minute drive to the Lindau Island where you can easily park either just before walking over the bridge to the island (cheaper) or in one of the 2 parking lots on the island itself. All-in-all we were very pleased. We would highly recommend this hotel.
Not really a complaint, but this hotel would not be convenient for people without a car. The walk to the island takes "20 minutes" which we never did but I would guess that it would take most people longer.

Why stay in "downtown" crowded Lindau when you can have a "lovely garden" (meaning of name) in a quiet Oasis off the main route about 2 km from things? Complete with free parking, elevator, large room, and the most lovely enclosed breakfast terrace and the best scrambled eggs we've ever had in Germany! The Hosts are most accommodating! Close to Austria and Switzerland but not as pricey as in those area.
Bathroom was somewhat small, as others observed, but functionable and more than made up for by new and comfortable mattresses and a large room complete with rolladen (i.e. shutters) to block out the light.

We enjoyed the guesthouse and the innkeeper. Very helpful and very friendly. The service was wonderful and the breakfast was very nice. The rooms were spacious and clean. We definitely would recommend this location. The innkeeper speaks very good English, so that was a plus since we are from the USA.

Breakfast was superb. Wonderful selection of food, beautifully presented and served in lovely conservatory. Excellent beds.
The hotel was further from the main town than we expected, much too far for elderly people to walk, even too far for them to walk to a nearby restaurant. Altho it is a quiet residential area the traffic noise from the busy road below woke us early when we slept with an open window.

WeI really liked the setting of the hotel. The house is a very well renovated 'Jugendstil' villa, Our room was spacious and well set up with a great bathroom. The view over the lovely garden towards the lake and the Alps made for a real holiday feel. The atmosphere was pleasant with the staff being very helpful and available when needed. The breakfast room - a very extensive 'wintergarden' glass-domed room extending into the garden was lovely and we enjoyed a breakfast buffet that catered for many tastes.
We enjoyed our stay. There was nothing to dislike.

We (a mother and son) stayed in the Hotel Schongarten for four nights and enjoyed our time spent there. We had two single rooms which were spacious and bright. The hotel is not on the island but is less than five minutes away by car. The benefit is that one can have a good nights sleep away from the noise of the island town. There is a good choice of breakfast to cater for all tastes. With a fruit bowl opposite the lift and a bowl of sweets at the reception, I was truly happy, especially with the latter, which I raided, any time I passed. The proprietors were very helpful. Nice people!
This is not really a complaint, but I would just like to advise that the hotel only does light snacks other than breakfast. So one should get the evening meal elsewhere.
